She turns this belief into action by leading multiple organizations aligned with the goal of helping businesses thrive in order to create economic opportunity for California’s residents. Gurbax holds senior positions with CALED, the California Academy for Economic Development, and the California Enterprise Development Authority. She uses her commitment to thoughtful leadership and organizational knowledge, as well as collaboration with her 800 economic development member peers throughout California, to support the start, growth and sustainability of private enterprise in California. Daniel Carrigg (Senior Policy Advisor @Renne Public Policy Group) Daniel Carrigg is a political consultant with extensive network of professional contacts and broad experience in legislative analysis, policy development, strategy, and advocacy on issues affecting local government agencies, developed over his 30-year career in California’s Capitol. Carrigg currently advises both CALED (California Association for Local Economic Development) and RPPG (Renne Public Policy Group) on legislative and strategic matters. His policy experience includes housing and land use, revenue and taxation, tax increment financing, economic development, transportation, public works, public contracting, public safety, labor relations, and environmental quality. Carrigg served as Deputy Executive Director/ Legislative Director for the League of California Cities, where he oversaw the organization’s lobbying and policy development activities for many years. Tracy Rhine (Senior Policy Advocate @Rural County Representatives of California) Tracy Rhine joined the Rural County Representative of California staff in 2016 as a Legislative Advocate. Tracy represents RCRC on a variety of issues including telecommunications, insurance, land use, and housing finance. Prior to joining RCRC, Tracy served as Chief Deputy Director of the California Department of Consumer Affairs. Prior to her appointment by Governor Brown to her position at the Department of Consumer Affairs, Tracy worked in the Legislature both as a Member Consultant with the Speaker’s Office of Member Services and as a Committee Consultant with the Assembly Committee on Business and Professions. Tracy began her career as a graduate research assistant with the Governor’s Office for Innovation in Government. Tracy holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government from California State University, Sacramento. Evan Schmidt (CEO @Valley Vision) Evan Schmidt is the Chief Executive Officer of Valley Vision, a social impact organization leading regional and statewide initiatives that advance livability. For over 25 years, Valley Vision’s work has been in support of the “three E’s” — social equity, economic prosperity, and environmental sustainability. Evan’s leadership over the organization’s research and strategic initiatives across six impact areas of Workforce Development, Clean Economy, Food & Agriculture, Broadband & Digital Equity, Healthy Communities and Leadership & Civic Engagement has expanded Valley Vision’s reach and impact to underinvested and disadvantaged populations. She is committed to building a region where communities are vibrant and sustainable, and where every person has the opportunity to meet their potential. She believes that Valley Vision can create the foundation for collaboration, research, and vision that enables our region to be a more livable place to live for all residents.
