SeedTalk Prairies: Seed Regulatory Modernization Update
Seed Regulatory Modernization Update Webinar:

Seed Regulatory Modernization (SRM) is a comprehensive review by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) of the Seeds Regulations. SRM is designed to make the system simpler, easier to use, and more aligned with modern practices, while strengthening consumer protection. This project will lay the foundation for a strong Canadian seed system for years to come.

SRM is currently underway with Task Teams (comprised of broad sector representation) reviewing and discussing almost every aspect and detail of Canada’s seed system. To date, the Task Team reviews of Seed Grades and Standards have been completed, with Variety Registration and Seed Certification reviews currently underway. The next two Task Teams will focus on Common Seed and Seed Testing. Reviews of Information (labelling and records), Exports, and Importation will commence at a later date.

Join us for an hour on Wednesday to hear from Wendy Jahn, National Manager, Seed Section – CFIA and Doug Miller, Executive Director, CSGA for a detailed update on the process and how things are progressing.
