The Regional Dialogue will be convened ahead of the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) which will be held in September as part of “the Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030”. The outcomes of the Dialogues will also feed into the pre-Summit event scheduled for July in Rome.
The CARICOM Secretariat is partnering with a number of other organisations to hold the Dialogue including the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office, the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).
The Dialogue aims to share views on challenges in the regional food system and provide proposals to present to the Summit. Food security, climate resilience, funding and financing will be the primary areas of focus when stakeholders gather on 28 May 2021.
