Building competencies in healthcare: the future role of women in management

Although the role of women in healthcare management is gaining attention by scholars and policy makers, many obstacles persist in their achievement of upper-management positions. Though efforts in re-balancing opportunities are numerous, many unanswered questions remain about whether and how female managers in the sector may require different training and career opportunities if compared to those traditionally provided to their male colleagues.
The Advanced School of Health Economics and Management (ALTEMS), an EHMA member, is currently carrying out research on this topic both at national (Italian) and international levels. Preliminary results of its research projects will be presented in the webinar and will stimulate a debate on desirable new focus of research and intervention. Finally, the School’s International Master Course in Management of healthcare and life science organisations will be presented to the audience, together with the opportunities deriving from its attendance.
