Description
Out-Of-Pocket is partnering with Michael Best to teach you about the basic legal things you should know about starting a telemedicine business. Day 1 [3/25] - Foundations: We’ll explore the fundamental structure of telehealth businesses through an example, focusing on when and why an MSO-PC model is needed. This session will cover the roles and relationships between entities, key agreements like Management Services and Assignable Option Agreements, and how corporate formalities ensure compliance while maintaining separation between management and medical practice operations. Day 2 [3/26] - Telehealth Business Models: We’ll compare different telehealth business models, including building your own medical practice versus contracting with existing providers, and examine the trade-offs of reimbursement versus cash-pay structures. This session will also break down the contracting process, discussing whether agreements should be made through an MSO or PC, and walk through key partnership models with medical practices, payors, and employers. Day 2 [3/27] - Telehealth Business Models: We’ll discuss key legal shifts in telemedicine, including new state laws like California AB 3129, evolving Medicare billing policies, and updates to HIPAA and privacy laws. This session will provide insights into how these changes impact telehealth operations and may include a roundtable discussion with industry professionals to share real-world perspectives.
