Prof Martinez-Hervas, M.D., Ph. D., is currently Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Valencia and staff endocrinologist at the Hospital Clinico Universitario of Valencia. He studied Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Valencia where he graduated in 2000. He completed his training period in Endocrinology and Nutrition at the Hospital Clínico Universitario of Valencia in 2006, and obtained his doctorate "cum laude" a year later. His research work in the field of atherosclerosis began during the training period in Endocrinology and Nutrition, continuing in later years where he obtained a Río Hortega contract and a Juan Rodés contract from the Carlos III Health Institute. During this period of time, he made stays at the Sant Joan Hospital in Reus and at the Sint Franciscus Gasthuis in Rotterdam, both research groups led by researchers of recognized international prestige in the field of atherosclerosis.

A. Motulsky of the George Washington University in Seattle, and at the laboratory of Dr. J.-C. Fruchart of the Pasteur Institute in Lille, France. He is the recipient of numerous awards including five Hebrew University - Faculty of Medicine Prizes, the Fogarty (NIH) International Research Fellowship and the International Atherosclerosis (IAS) Award. His main research interests are in Lipid Metabolism, Atherosclerosis, Molecular Genetics and Drugs Affecting Lipid Metabolism. He has published over 180 original papers, reviews, editorials and commentaries and is a full Professor at the Hebrew University.
