Viviane de Castro Pecanha began her education and career as a clinical and research psychologist in São Paulo, Brazil. She co-founded a Brazilian non-profit organization that educates and trains professionals to diagnose and treat mental health illness in particular impulse control disorders. Dr. Pecanha was a Visiting Professor at Universidad de Las Americas Puebla (Mexico) and Universidad Nacional de Rosario (Argentina). For the past 11 years, Dr. Pecanha has been working to advance the field of international psychology forming and mentoring individuals to serve as transformational agents of change addressing the demands of our global societies, advocating for social justice and responsibility, and supervising core, affiliate, and adjunct faculty teaching in the international psychology programs. Under Dr. Pecanha’s leadership, as the Chair of the International Psychology Department at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (Online Campus), the International Psychology Ph.D. Program won the 2019 University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA) International Program of Excellence Award.
