Dental professionals are now besieged with the reoccurrence of implant disease whether it is inflammatory mucositis or osseous resorption associated with implantitis. And as practitioners, we are bewildered as to the “correct” approach for managing our implant patients.
To manage effectively, we must understand the etiology including microbial factors to surface characteristics as metallosis, a compressive approach is a necessity from prevention to surgical applications.
Our objective is to present both present day methodologies to advanced technological applications with the result reversing implant disease and returning patient confidence.
• Implement innovative patient oral hygiene systems that enhance compliance and effectiveness
• Incorporate techniques for at-the-chair anti-inflammatory biofilm control with innovative technology, such as air medicinal delivery and dental lasers
• Describe low impact surgical techniques for decontamination, degranulation and decortication including osseous augmentation
