In their quest for better systems of care and improved health outcomes, today's healthcare leaders need to confront the status quo and build communities from the ground up. Today's transformative leaders are community builders (Vitale-Aussem, 2019) with skills to build trust, engage multiple stakeholders, and inspire others to implement a vision of change. In other words, strong people skills that are based on emotional intelligence and that start with self awareness. Faculty teaching in healthcare management undergraduate and graduate programs need to motivate and inspire students to embrace change for themselves and others. The presenters will cover strategies to develop and assess dimensions of emotional intelligence among professional healthcare management students. Qualitative and quantitative methodology for measuring student outcomes will also be discussed.
