Driving Transformation | Embracing Ambiguities: Designing Products from Zero-to-One
There are many unknowns throughout the early product stages around the product market fit which are very different from innovating an existing product. This talk offers an insight into the ambiguities and highlights design methods to uncover them. It explores the working backwards framework from a design lens and discusses the value of design as an enabler to bring order out of chaos.

Apurva Gupta

Apurva is a Senior UX designer at AWS leading designs for services in the analytics and observability verticals. She has previously led end-to-end designs and helped teams set up design-first product development processes, design systems, and accessibility programs.

In her career, Apurva has designed for established, mature and industry-leading products; and more recently, she led design for two new AWS services - CloudWatch Evidently and CloudWatch RUM. In retrospect, she realized that the challenges, processes, and attitudes for innovating an existing product are significantly different from building something from zero to one where ambiguity is high, and agility is necessary. This talk is a reflection of her experiences on the kind of ambiguities one faces, tools that help in making crucial hypotheses and assumptions, and overall, how to design a new product and take it from zero to one and beyond.
