Alexis will be in conversation with SNMA Executive Director Hunter O'Hanian about her recent exhibition at the Leslie-Lohman Museum: ON OUR BACKS: The Revolutionary Art of Queer Sex Work. The exhibition explores the history of queer sex work culture, and its intimate ties to art and activism.

About the curator:
As a social worker, storyteller and advocate, Alexis Heller (she/her) has been working to empower LGBTQAI youth in settings such as foster care, shelters, drop-in centers and schools for more than a decade. She began an independent curatorial practice in 2012 centered on marginalized LGBTQAI histories.
Heller has organized a number of exhibitions at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art in NYC, Smack Mellon in Brooklyn, as well as several alternative art spaces. Heller’s work has been awarded grant funding from the MAC AIDS Fund, The Andy Warhol Foundation, and the ONE Archives Foundation.
She received a BA in Psychology and Women’s Studies from Wesleyan University and an MA in Social Work from Columbia University.
