African Perspectives – Writers and Literary Experts in Conversation: Let’s keep Talking…!
This virtual get-together offers the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers present. Let’s discuss some more!

The Symposium:
On the occasion of 40 years of Litprom, KfW Stiftung and Litprom jointly host the symposium “African Perspectives – Writers and Literary Experts in Conversation”: Authors, publishers and experts discuss the developments of the past decades and visions for the future. Sub-Saharan Africa was the focus of attention at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 1980. Time, after 40 years, to ask for new perspectives!

With a keynote by Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o,
followed by two panel discussions with José Eduardo Agualusa, (Angola/Portugal), Hemley Boum (Cameroon/France), Petina Gappah (Zimbabwe/UK/Switzerland), Colleen Higgs (South Africa), Maaza Mengiste (Ethopia/USA), Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor (Kenya), Nii Ayikwei Parkes (Ghana/UK),
and a poetry reading by Koleka Putuma.

The talk series “Some Afterthoughts…” features short conversations on the ins and outs of the perception as well as publishing and promoting global literatures in Germany.
