CO2 capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) is a vital part of the clean energy toolkit. It can help decarbonize both power generation and industrial sectors such as cement, steel, chemicals and refining. CCUS is proven, with 19 large-scale commercial projects in operation today. However, largely due to lack of viable business models, CCUS deployment today is still well below where it needs to be. Facilitated by the Clean Energy Ministerial CCUS Initiative, several finance-sector organisations have jointly elaborated “Key Financing Principles for CCUS”.
This 90-minute session is designed to discuss key principles for CCUS financing and outline ways to put them into action, especially in Asia. Speakers and panelists are from multilateral development banks, commercial banks, governments and industry.
This event is held on Thursday 18 June at 20:00 - 21:30 Manila time (PHT) / 13:00 - 14:30 BST. It is co-hosted by the Clean Energy Ministerial CCUS Initiative and the Asian Development Bank, as part of the 2020 Asia Clean Energy Forum.
