Tuberculosis: An Old and Ongoing Epidemic
Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) invites you to attend the webinar series, “Overshadowed by COVID-19: Neglected Diseases in the Spotlight.”

The third in the series is “Tuberculosis: An Old and Ongoing Epidemic.”

Tuberculosis is still one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases. It’s difficult to diagnose and tough to treat. And if patients are unable to complete their treatment regimens, they risk developing drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB), which makes the condition more difficult to treat.

What can be done about this deadly disease? This webinar aims to address the following:
- Challenges and innovations in diagnosing tuberculosis, especially in patients who are immunocompromised or who have other conditions like HIV or diabetes
- Challenges and innovations in treating TB and DR-TB, including challenges to accessing new and more effective medicine, and results of clinical trials like PRACTECAL
- TB in challenging conditions, such as areas of chronic conflict (Chechnya); refugee camps in Chad or Thailand; prison settings as in Kyrgyzstan; and urban slums like Tondo in the Philippines and PNG
