As part of the Library's Hispanic Heritage Month programming, Genealogy Specialist Librarian Suzanne Fritz will give one-hour presentation via Zoom on “Finding Mexican Ancestors.” The program will help participants gain a better understanding of their culture and that of others, and will help them learn new research skills that can be strengthened by activating resources offered by the Fort Worth Public Library.
Hispanic heritage draws from a rich resource of genealogical documents. In Mexico, civil authorities began recording births, marriage and deaths in 1859. The presentation will show how to search the Civil Registration to find ancestors in Mexico, and how to search the U.S. Federal Census. No genealogical experience is needed.
