SCMR Webinar Series: Physics Just the Basics - Late Gadolinium Enhancement Imaging: Principles and Methods
Peter Kellman, Senior Scientist in the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at NIH, will discuss the basic principles of late gadolinium enhancement imaging including the mechanism of late enhancement in acute and chronic myocardial infarction imaging due to kinetics of gadolinium clearance and a description of methods for inversion recovery imaging. The presentation will cover commonly used protocols, nulling of normal myocardium, artifact mechanisms, and blood pool contrast. The presentation will include advanced topics of free-breathing imaging, lipomatous metaplasia and fat water separated late enhancement, imaging patients with devices, and dark blood late enhancement.
