Revisiting Theories and Practices of Endogenous Governance in Africa
Pour le français, lisez la suite.
Co-convened by the think-tank Afrospectives and the Global Humanity for Peace Institute, University of Wales Trinity St David, this international webinar brings together African scholars from different countries who have undertaken field research on African endogenous political philosophies and systems of governance. Panellists also include researchers who have analysed experiences of revalorisation and application of this heritage in the continent.

The aim of this event is threefold: (i) to showcase some pertinent examples of endogenous socio-political knowledge and practices, (ii) to discuss their potential for building a participatory democracy and governance rooted in local cultures, and (iii) to define key guidelines for African countries who are interested and willing to explore and revitalise traditional or indigenous African systems of governance.

The webinar will conclude with a general discussion amongst panellists and participants that draws together the diverse governance theories and practices shared throughout the event. This will enable us to make concrete policy recommendations for African governments and civil society organisations interested in and committed to exploring the potential of endogenous systems of governance.
