Cannabis Vaporizer Aerosols: Nonpolar Methods for Collection and Analysis of Ten Metals - Amber Wise, PhD

Amber Wise earned her PhD in Chemistry from UC-Berkeley and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at UC-San Francisco. Before transitioning to the cannabis industry, Dr. Wise was a chemistry lecturer and professor for 7 years at universities in San Francisco, Bangladesh, and Chicago. After leaving academia in 2016, she was the Scientific Director at Avitas Agriculture in Washington and Oregon for two years, overseeing the cannabis extraction and refinement facilities and handling the data analysis, new product development, and scientific growth of the company. Dr. Wise also designed and presented educational seminars for budtenders and other cannabis industry professionals and was invited by the Health Ministry of Canada to present on the production of cannabis extracts and concentrates. In November 2018, she joined Medicine Creek Analytics (MCA), an entity of the Puyallup Tribe, as their Science Director. MCA is a WA-state certified testing facility for I-502 cannabis products and was the first cannabis testing lab in the state to also achieve ISO-17025 accreditation. Dr. Wise is the Programming Committee Chair of CANN, the Cannabis Chemistry Subdivision of the American Chemical Society, and serves on the WA Dept. of Ecology Cannabis Science Task Force Steering Committee. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering as a master gardener, sewing and enjoying the outdoors of the Pacific NorthWest.

CANN’s Journal Club is the only international cannabis chemistry webinar of its kind. Journal club focuses on recent peer reviewed publications in the cannabis science space and is open to the public free of charge. Sessions are held monthly and broadcast via webinar on Zoom. Presentations are often made by publication authors themselves. This provides an excellent opportunity for audience members to learn from and interact with leading cannabis scientists.
