Pathways To Mindful Coaching
Join Michael Arloski, Ph.D., PCC, NBC-HWC and Mary Bitterauf and they talk about how Mindfulness can benefit the Coach as well as the Client!
· Getting clear on what “mindfulness really is”. Providing a definition – (not just assuming that everyone knows how to define or interpret its meaning). Using Jon Kabat-Zinn’s classic definition: “Mindfulness is an awareness that arises by paying attention in a particular way, i.e. in the present moment and without judgement”. Insight Meditation - gaining insight into one’s own thoughts, body sensations, and conditioned patterns.

· Brief practice of meditation – guided by Mary – ending with some participant feedback.
· Mindfulness - a coach’s self-care tool. The benefits of practice before, during, and after coaching sessions, i.e. getting grounded, appreciative inquiry, mindful speaking and listening, strengthening compassion etc.
· Mindful exploration. Discuss how mindfulness can benefit clients during the exploration process and enable them to tap into their intrinsic motivation.
· Going beyond meditation. Clarify alternative ways of being mindful (since not every client is going to want to sit and meditate, do yoga or engage in traditional mindfulness practices.
· Ending with a brief sit and short poem.
