The Pink Boots society, founded in the USA in 2007, now has chapters all around the world and over 1,800 members. The organization supports women already in the brewing profession and encourages new recruits through education, scholarship funding, and social events.

We’re joined by co-founder Teri Fahrendorf and a panel of female brewers from around the region to discuss the progress that’s been made so far by the industry and what more can be done to encourage the inclusion of ladies in brewing.

Following a brewing accident in 1989 Teri became an advocate for promoting safety in breweries. In 2007 Teri left her brewing job of 17 years and took to the road, brewing throughout the USA. While doing this she met many women in the brewing community dealing with problems associated with isolation at being the only ladies in their respective breweries, recognizing the need for an organization that would act as a community for such women to connect and share information Teri founded the Pink Boots Society. Today Teri is the Malt Innovation Center Manager for Great Western Malting and is still a strong advocate for women in the brewing community.
