Exposing Crevices and Breakdowns in the System: The Impact of COVID-19 on Black and Brown Pregnant Women and Families in Delaware
Overview:
A startling and disproportionate death rate among black, brown, and Native Americans around the country from COVID-19 is revealing persistent inequities rooted in pervasive structural racism. There is an immediate need for solutions to address these concerns as well as to expose the crevices and breakdowns in the system because Black Americans experience a disproportionate share of environmental risk factors and are more likely to have limited economic and educational opportunities, food insecurity and poor access to health care. This webinar looks through the lens of pregnant women and their families as they struggle to adapt to the frequently changing conditions which impact their ability to access care and meet their social determinant of health needs.
