The 2022 Hydrocephalus Association Network for Discovery Science (HANDS) Webinar Series will be on improving ways of diagnosing and screening for hydrocephalus to allow for earlier detection of the condition. In order to develop a new diagnostic and drug-screening tool, Dr. Simon Shim's lab has recently adopted the PCR and genome data viewer to compare human specimens and mammalian genes associated with hydrocephalus. In this Webinar, focusing on mRNA markers, Dr. Shim will demonstrate examples of how to potentially differentiate normal pressure hydrocephalus from Alzheimer’s disease. He will then demonstrate how two previously known factors associated with high mutation rates in human genomes can be applied to a genetic marker or drug target consistent or inconsistent across mouse, rat, and human species.
