Boswell presents a virtual event with Max Gross, columnist for The Forward and staff reporter for The New York Post, with his new novel, The Lost Shtetl
The shtetl of Kreskol has been happily oblivious to the larger world for decades. It missed the Holocaust and the Cold War, cars and electricity, the internet and indoor plumbing. But when a troubled couple disappears and a naive young man is sent to alert the authorities, the lost village makes national headlines.
As the the Polish government makes plans to reintegrate the town, the village becomes divided between those who who want change and those who fear it. The result is a black comedy that combines fable, history, zaniness and cultural commentary.
