50:50 Building Diversity into Democracy
Diversity leads to better decision making! Hear how we can all inspire and help women from diverse backgrounds progress in politics and public life.

This discussion will be lead by Cllr Nanda Manley-Browne who heads up the 50:50 Diversity Team.

The panel includes inspirational political women. They will tell us about how they overcame barriers, such as discrimination, misogyny and racism, to shatter glass ceilings.

This is your chance to ask questions. Nanda (a Labour councillor) and the panellists will give information on the training and mentoring available from each party. Hear directly from all these amazing women about their journey, what keeps them going and succeeding.

The Panel:

Claire Coutinho MP - Conservative elected in 2019

Munira Wilson MP - Liberal Democrat elected in 2019

Christine Dean - Deputy Leader Women's Equality Party

Fatima Joji - SNP Candidate in 2021

About us:

The 50:50 Diversity Team run monthly "Connect & Reflect Sessions" for women from ethnically diverse backgrounds.

50:50 Parliament's mission is to build a better democracy, one in which women have equal seats and equal say. We work with all the political parties to encourage women to stand for elected office at local and national level. When women click #SignUpToStand via www.5050Parliament.co.uk/signuptostand we

- send them an interactive Personal Political Profile
- allocate them a 50:50 Buddy
- invite them to weekly party specific Bite Size meetings
- and offer bespoke support to women from diverse groups.

In the corridors of power, men still outnumber women by 2:1. Campaign for change!
