Join us as Mary Meg McCarthy presents a reflection on our country's current response to immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. Tensions over who we welcome and how are are as old as this country. We are indisputably a nation off immigrants, and people born abroad have shaped every aspect of American life from the founding generation to the present. Even when we disagree about our immigration policy, every American president since WWI has used his discretion to protect particular groups of immigrants and refugees and the integrity of their families. Every administration has the right to craft its own immigration policy, but as citizens we have the obligation to question whether or not that policy honors our history and upholds the rule of law.
