Online information disorder: building up resilience in front of vicarious trauma
Join us for a conversation on how best to help journalists, researchers and fact checkers look after their mental health while covering information disorder hosted by Amnesty International’s Crisis Evidence Lab and First Draft. Vicarious trauma can have a huge impact on the well being of people investigating social media, and the all consuming nature of the pandemic coupled with the isolation of lockdown and remote working has only exacerbated the dangers. The Rated-R project - born from UC Berkeley’s Human Rights Center - and Turkish-fact checkers Teyit will share essential, practical insights on how to build resilience to better protect ourselves when confronted with distressing content such as racism, and sexual violence, drawing from their experiences in the US, Turkey, and Nigeria. Join us and please share your tips and questions.
