This talk will provide an overview of physician burnout and resilience and focus on the following:
-Defining physician burnout and models for understanding burnout with data on prevalence.
-Identifying sources of work-related stress that contribute to physician burnout as well as their consequences.
-Defining resilience, describing sources of resilience in individuals and communities, and provide a framework for understanding mental health and well-being, and the concept of balance.
-Discussing strategies to decrease burnout and enhance resilience management techniques and describing the data on how these techniques enhance resilience.
