Our next webinar will focus on exploring the truth about whether NHS data is sold, in what way and to who. With headlines such as ‘NHS data grab’, ‘NHS patient data to be made available for sale’ and ‘NHS shares English hospital data with dozens of companies’ there is a lack of transparency around who is given access to the data generated by the NHS and how it happens, with no clear route for patients to find out. We want to demystify the ‘selling’ of the data, to explore what is meant by cost recovery models, and to consider how the NHS might best exploit our data as an asset to add value to our care and to research.
We have secured nine speakers who will offer a range of perspectives and examples, from those “selling” and those “buying” our data and from those collecting and storing it, and from all four nations in the UK.
The webinar will be a longer session than previous webinars, 3 hours in total with a 15 minute break, in order to be able to explore the topic in detail.
