Examining the Potential of Industry-Recognized Credentials in High School to Advance Learner Success

Industry-recognized credentials (IRCs) are an increasingly prominent strategy used by states to measure career readiness among high school graduates. The breadth of the credentials landscape is making it increasingly important to monitor the outcomes of credential attainment to ensure they meet the skill needs for both learners and prospective employers.

In this webinar, Matt Giani, Research Associate Professor from UT-Austin, and Amber Northern, Senior Vice President for Research at the Thomas B. Fordham Institute, will facilitate a discussion with state Career Technical Education (CTE) leaders centered on the results of a large-scale, mixed-methods study examining the impact of IRCs in Texas. Attendees will gain insights on the impact of IRCs on high school learner post-graduation outcomes, areas of growth to increase IRC completion, and the risks and reward of incorporating IRC outcomes into state accountability systems.
