Find out how healthy minds make a healthier New York with Mental Health Community Partners (MHCPs)!
Join our guests from the Mental Health Association in New York State, Inc. (MHANYS) as they outline how MHCPs support the recovery of adults with Severe Mental Illness and youth aged 12+ with Serious Emotional Disturbance as they transition from any treatment level or setting to the community. Megan Spagnola, CASAC, Program Specialist and Michelle Garcia, Assistant Director will lead the discussion.
When someone in recovery transitions out of a treatment setting, family members or chosen supporters can help provide effective and meaningful support. Mental Health Community Partners are there to help. During a 90-day program, participants are paired with a certified MHCP, who guides the family in achieving whole-family health and wellbeing and preventing rehospitalization.
Meg and Michelle will also discuss training opportunities for Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselors (CASACs), Peer Support Specialists, Family Peer Advocates, Youth Peer Advocates, and other qualifying professions. Funding provided by the NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) affords MHANYS the opportunity to offer certification training for interested staff from Partner sites at no cost.
MHCP is a project of MHANYS in partnership with the NYS OMH.
