The Annual Fontan Education Day is a unique opportunity for attendees to hear and learn from specialists in paediatric and adult cardiology, on matters that are important to those living with a Fontan circulation throughout their health care journey. Attendees primarily include people living with a Fontan circulation and their family members. This includes people in various stages of the Fontan journey, from parents whose child is planned to have the Fontan, who are concerned about what probability of a normal lifestyle lies ahead. Adolescents and young adults approaching and navigating the transition from paediatric care to adult care, and adults who are living with various statuses of health.
The aim and commitment for this year’s Annual Fontan Education Day is to help support and provide education for members of the Fontan community to optimise the health outcomes and care consistency for those living with a Fontan circulation. This includes ensuring that the experiences and perspectives of people living with a Fontan circulation are highlighted and voiced throughout the presentations. The Fontan Education Day strives to provide communication, advocacy, and awareness along with presentations describing the personal journey from an adult, adolescent and parents of a child living with a Fontan circulation.
