Please join the ICON Textile Group – with a glass of wine in hand – for an online conversation with Ksynia Marko on the occasion of her long-awaited publication: Woven Tapestry: Guidelines for Conservation.
Woven Tapestry is one of the most up to date and authoritative reference books to deal with the handling, conservation, and protection of historic tapestries. Published by Archetype Publications in May 2020, Woven Tapestry aims to help textile conservators carry out thorough assessments and arrive at appropriate options for treatment by focusing on: the techniques of tapestry manufacture; agents of deterioration; and current practice for methods of cleaning, support, repair and display. It is fully illustrated, and is supplemented with 20 in-depth case studies.
Ksynia has over 40 years experience in the profession and was the National Trust’s Textile Conservation Adviser and manager of the NT’s Textile Conservation Studio for twenty seven years until her retirement in 2018. In 2016 Ksynia was awarded the Plowden Medal for her outstanding contribution to cultural heritage. She will introduce her new book and offer an account of her experiences of tapestry conservation, and will be pleased to take questions from attendees afterwards.
Registrants/attendees will be eligible for a £10.00 discount on the book from the publisher Archetype Publications Ltd.
