In Conversation: Manuel Mathieu with Edwidge Danticat
The Power Plant and the 41st edition of the Toronto International Festival of Authors co-present this conversation between Haitian-born, Montrealbased artist Manuel Mathieu and award-winning Haitian-American author Edwidge Danticat. Mathieu’s painterly work reflects on the fraught history of Haiti, on diasporic identity, and on the writings of Frantz Fanon. Danticat’s novels and non-fiction works explore autobiographical threads relating to her experience of Haiti’s dual dictatorships, which forced her family to migrate to the United States. The two will engage in conversation; the program will conclude with questions and answers from the audience.
