Spartanburg: The Road to Litter-Free Neighborhoods Virtual Workshop
Join the South Carolina Aquarium, the City of Spartanburg, the Northside Voyagers, and Keep OneSpartanburg Beautiful for a virtual workshop sponsored by Duke Energy to hear the latest information about plastic pollution's global and local impact, and learn ways you can support a cleaner, healthier environment. Aquarium Conservation Programs Manager, Kelly Thorvalson will share information about how litter is affecting water, wildlife and wild places and how the Aquarium is helping communities all over SC better understand and combat this issue. You’ll also hear from local speakers, Christy Snow, Wanda Cheeks Holmes, Devin Stewart, Tony Thomas and Joyce Harrison about ways you can support Litter-Free Neighborhoods in Spartanburg.

Attendees willing to commit to future litter sweeps and data collection will be provided kits that can host group sweeps; kits include reusable mesh bags, grabbers, reusable gloves and clipboards with data sheets. A limited number of individual sweep kits will also be available. A litter sweep and pick-up for sweep kits will be held at Butterfly Park on Thursday, April 15th from 1 – 3 pm; kits will be dispensed afterwards.
