Nurses, teachers, servicemembers, and firefighters are among the thousands of public service workers who have been on the frontlines, serving their communities and country during COVID. In exchange for their work, the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program was meant to cancel their student loan debt after 10 years. Unfortunately the promise of PSLF has failed them and thousands of other public service workers.
Join the Student Borrower Protection Center (SBPC) and Student Debt Crisis Center (SDCC) for a town hall event highlighting the experiences and struggles of public service workers’ accessing promised student loan forgiveness and why the Biden administration must take bold action to fix the broken Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. The event will include remarks from AFT President Randi Weingarten, a panel discussion with borrowers about their struggles accessing PSLF, and information for borrowers on managing their student loans.
