What’s a Sleep Doctor? An Introduction to Sleep Medicine

Dr. Sunwoo will introduce Sleep Medicine and provide an overview of the major classes of sleep disorders and an introduction to current sleep diagnostics and therapeutics.

About Dr. Bernie Sunwoo
Dr. Bernie Sunwoo is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Medical Director of Sleep Medicine at the University of California San Diego (UCSD). Dr. Sunwoo received her M.B.B.S. degree (Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery), which is an international medical degree equivalent to an M.D. degree in the U.S, from the University of New South Wales in Australia with first class honors. She moved to the United States in 2005 where she completed fellowships in both Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sunwoo has special interests in the evaluation and management of patients with rare and complex lung disorders, hypoventilation disorders and co-existing pulmonary and sleep disorders. In addition, she is actively involved in medical education and scholarship and is currently the medical director of Sleep Medicine at UCSD.
