The Democratic Volunteer Center (DVC) of Silicon Valley is pleased to welcome Larry Diamond, senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI) at Stanford University. He will speak to us on a most critical topic for our time: “Defending and Renewing Our Embattled Democracy.”
Larry Diamond will be introduced by Congressman Ro Khanna, representing our California 17th District.
Larry Diamond is a noted speaker and leading contemporary scholar in the field of democracy studies, and has served as an advisor to numerous governmental and international organizations. His talk will cover key challenges facing our democracy today, and is not one to miss! His latest book, "Ill Winds: Saving Democracy from Russian Rage, Chinese Ambition, and American Complacency", analyzes the challenges confronting liberal democracy in the United States and around the world at this potential “hinge in history,” and offers an agenda for strengthening and defending democracy at home and abroad.
The DVC is a volunteer organization playing a leading role in our region, enabling large phone banks, text banks, canvassing teams, letter and postcard writing, voter registration, fund raising, and supporting resistance groups and democratic clubs in every presidential, midterm and special election since 2012. We’ve had millions of voter interactions, including many wins and some losses. We are on a mission to Defend Our Democracy, today and in 2022.
Our event is FREE to attend, although we are encouraging contributions for the DVC as we raise funds to support our office and activities for you and other volunteers through the critical 2022 election. Please contribute on ActBlue:
