Rev. Dr. Sonia Waters
Assistant Professor of Pastoral Theology @Princeton Seminary
Sonia E. Waters, PhD '13, earned her BA in literature with a minor in gender studies from Wheaton College, her MDiv with honors from The General Seminary of the Episcopal Church, and her PhD in pastoral theology from Princeton Theological Seminary. She is an Episcopal priest with 10 years experience in parish ministry and prior experience in feminist advocacy work focused on violence against women. Her research interests include addictions studies, visual culture and media, feminist and womanist pastoral theology, attachment and family systems theories, and relational perspectives on the self.
Timothy McMahan King
Author @Addiction Nation: What the Opioid Crisis Reveals about Us
Author of Addiction Nation, Timothy McMahan King is a writer, nonprofit professional, and the owner of Vagabond Strategies. He has worked as a community organizer in Chicago, a chief strategy officer with Sojourners, and as a consultant for the Center for Action and Contemplation. Kings work has been published in Christianity Today, Sojourners, the Wall Street Journal and CNN. A graduate of North Park University with degrees in theology and philosophy, King lives with his wife, Hannah, in New Hamsphire.
Rev. Ed Treat

The Rev. Dr. Ed Treat has been a pastor for 25 years and currently serves as senior pastor of Transfiguration Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Minnesota. He has been recovering from addiction for 34 years and has directed of the Fellowship of Recovering Lutheran Clergy (FRLC) for the past 18 years. He is currently developing a new national ministry to raise awareness around addiction and how faith communities can better respond called the “Center of Addiction & Faith.”
