DET Workshop Series: Self Selected Reading for Students with Complex Communication Needs and Augmentative and Alternative Communication
Balanced Literacy Instruction uses all valid parts of literacy instruction, not one approach. It encompasses learning requirements for all students, from emergent to conventional.

Presented in relation to supporting students with Complex Communication Needs (CCN), this workshop assists educators to help students understand why they might want to learn, become automatic in skill application and choose to continue to read after developing the required skills.

The workshop explores:
- Providing a range of books for each student (including fiction and non fiction)
- Providing an opportunity for each student to read as independently as possible
- Silent reading

This workshop is most appropriate for school staff and therapists who support students who are currently using a communication aid.

Free for all Victorian Government School Staff.

This workshop will take place online.
