YSIAC Webinar: Arbitration: Setting Off On The Right Foot
Consent lies at the heart of arbitration. From parties’ agreement to arbitrate all the way through to receipt of the award, consensus drives the process. One wrong step along the way, and everything may potentially be undermined. In this webinar, panellists explore the instances on the fringe where consent may be nuanced or subject to caveats, or even withdrawn or vitiated, at times to the inadvertence of one or more parties. From these cautionary tales we glean how best to set off on the right foot – or at least how to avoid tripping up – from arbitration agreement to award.

Our panellists offer perspectives from across the world. Dr Johannes Landbrecht, Attorney at Law at Gabriel Arbitration in Zurich, is admitted to the bar in Switzerland, Germany and England, and offers a European perspective. Dr Julian Wyatt, Partner at Abrahams Meese Lawyers, draws from his 15 years’ experience as a disputes lawyer and lends an Australian angle to the discussion. Mr Babajimi Ayorinde, founding partner and head of the Commercial Dispute Resolution Practice Group at The New Practice, brings a Nigerian outlook. Mr Devathas Satianathan, Partner at the International Arbitration practice group at Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP, will be moderating and rounding off with a Singaporean take.
