Yoga vs Osteoporosis -5:30 - 6:30 PM Eastern Time

In these IAYT-approved classes (1 hr. CEU) we go over the poses shown to reverse bone loss in people with osteopenia and osteoporosis, and build bone also in those people that have normal bone mineral density and want to stay that way. Each weekly class focuses on one of the Three Series. The First Series has been demonstrated to have these desirable effects. Research with a 7 Tesla MRI shows that yoga also improves trabecular bone, (again, the First Series). Trabeculae are the supports and cross-struts inside each bone that account for 30% to 70% of a bone's strength, i.e., its resistance to fracture. Most "bone-building" medicines fail to do that, in fact some actually weaken the internal bone.
We are currently testing the Second Series, which was constructed along the same principles as the first, but also addresses the wrists. Early results show increased trabecular development in this series, too. The Third series is constructed to include femur, spine, wrists and ribs, and is the most advanced of the Three Series.
If you are new to yoga, the best class to start with is Series 1.

Class order: First Series every other week, and the Second Series after the First Series twice, then the Third Series. So the series by numbers goes like this: one, two, one, two, one, three, then repeat.
