Norms around ESG are still evolving in India. Harmful commodities industries such as the tobacco industry appear to be utilising the ESG discourse to their advantage. Through a series of lectures, tobacco control and relevant stakeholders will be sensitised to the problematic aspects concerning ESG investments in the tobacco sector and encourage public health-oriented voices to inform evolving ESG norms in India. ESG could offer new avenues for participants to deal with the tobacco industry that goes beyond Article 5.3 of the World Health Organisations’ (WHO) Framework Convention for Tobacco Control (FCTC).
Part 2 of the webinar series will explore the following topics:
-ESG within Commercial Determinants of Health (CDoH)
-Understanding implications of 'E', 'S' and 'G' in relation to the tobacco industry
-Tobacco Industry and Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) in India
-The way forward for businesses and health
