Offshore Wind : a guide to its installation and potential hazards to shipping
The construction of an offshore wind farm is a complex and expensive process. It involves the transportation of high value assets such as the wind turbines, foundations, sub-stations and subsea cables using large vessels and barges. It is in the transportation and installation phases that there is a risk of damage to assets and vessels which can be costly. It is therefore important to look at ways to manage and mitigate these risks for all parties involved. In this webinar we will provide insight into the Offshore Wind and Renewables Industry and its future growth. It will consider the different types and sizes of turbines (fixed and floating), subsea array & transmission cables, sea transportation of component parts, and types of installation and service vessels. The potential hazards to shipping and cargo securing will be highlighted.
