Let’s Talk About Sex:
Time: 3 June, 14.30-15.30 CET/ 8.30-9.30 am EST via ZOOM
A woman’s right to decide on her own life and body is a corner stone of gender equality and of sustainable development. However, despite this being the 21st century, women’s right to choose is still a battle field across the globe.
Every two minutes a woman dies from complications in pregnancy or childbirth, many from unsafe abortions; every week thousands of girls are going through female genital mutilation; every year more than 225 million adolescent girls and women of reproductive age have an unmet need for family planning.
The Nordic Welfare States embraces equality and reproductive choice and the Nordics have historically been front runners on bodily autonomy and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
This High-Level, virtual Nordic Talk, is aligned with the Generation Equality Forum and its action coalition of Bodily Autonomy and SRHR, and it is going to ‘act to inspire and inspire to act’ for gender equality around the globe.
Do not miss the intro by Emtithal (Emi) Mahmoud - two time World Champion Poet, Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR and one of BBC's 100 Most Inspirational Women
Followed by a debate between:
• Dr. Natalia Kanem, Executive Director, UNFPA;
• Flemming Møller Mortensen, Danish Minister for International Development
and Nordic Cooperation;
• Natasha Wang Mwansa, Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Expert
• Moderated by Katja Iversen, Dane of the Year in Denmark (2018) and
former CEO of Women Deliver.
This Nordic Talk is sponsored by the Nordic Council of Ministers and organized by Business Owner Henrik Schramm Rasmussen (www.mind-your-business.dk) and Executive Advisor, Author and Gender Equality Advocate, Katja Iversen in partnership with UN Women, UNFPA, Sex & Samfund, The Danish Mission to the UN, and Generation Equality.
