Rethinking our approach to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT): what we thought we knew, what we’ve learned, and what lies ahead.
Doreen Saltiel, MD and Andrew Heyman, MD will be discussing the nuances associated with prescribing HRT. The discussion will focus on the evidence that exists regarding progesterone (Pg) therapy: why oral micronized progesterone (OMP) is the treatment of choice, why transdermal Pg should not be used to protect the endometrium, and why the less commonly prescribed vaginal progesterone may become the best option. In addition, they will discuss estradiol and breast cancer, heart disease, and cognition, as well as the myths surrounding testosterone therapy and dosing in women. This talk will help providers clear up confusion about best practices in this quickly evolving field.
