Description: This course discusses dental practice vulnerabilities associated with malpractice exposures. Emphasis will be placed on the most common practice management concerns including dealing with difficult patients, transgender patients, minor patients consent to treatment, opioid and other substance abuse issues, treating pregnant patients, and what to do when equipment harms a patient. Discussion will be held on proper documentation of patient care, building good patient rapport, and the importance of patient consent.
After this course you’ll be able to:
• Apply tried and true risk management principles to your practice to optimize patient care and reduce your risk of malpractice claims
• Realize that your malpractice carrier should be an automatic resource when you have practice-related questions
• Understand that all members of your practice contribute to, not only each patient’s experience, but also to the practice’s liability strengths or weaknesses
