His Excellency Mr Adriaan Palm, Ambassador at The Netherlands Embassy, joins Galway Cycling Campaign for a special lunchtime webinar about how investing in quality bike parking supports local retail and business.
Ambassador Palm will be joined by a Dutch expert and Richard Guiney, CEO of DublinTown.
Once, providing a secure bicycle parking infrastructure was an option that was only considered by socially-conscious business owners in bike-friendly communities. Galway is already a cycling city: we are second only to Dublin in percentage participation by bike to school, university and work.
With bicycle use rapidly growing since lockdown, and more of us living our lives more locally, business owners and retailers face the reality that a significant portion of customers now pedal - or want to pedal - their way to shop and dine. Investing in safe, secure and sheltered bicycle parking is investing in local, loyal, and frequent customers.
This event will be a soft launch of the Galway Supermarket Bike Parking Survey by Galway Cycling Campaign. The formal launch will be by Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Hildegarde Naughton TD on Friday 25 September.
This webinar will be recorded and shared on the Galway Cycling Campaign’s website and YouTube channel.
Please join us from 12.50 for a prompt 13.00 start.
