Dr. Mark Quarto, Chief Technical Officer – Future Tech Auto LLC, will introduce you to the SAE Vehicle Electrification Certification – Level 3
This certification is the result of five years of preparation through the NSF project grant – Northwest Engineering and Vehicle Technology Exchange (NEVTEX) Due # 1700708.
This session will focus on Level 3 of the SAE Vehicle Electrification Certification and will build on content provided in Sessions 1, 2, & 3. Session #3 focused on high voltage power systems, while this session will focus on power control systems. The 3-Phase power inverter and associated control systems are integral to powertrain and braking systems in VE technology. The HVAC and liquid cooling systems no longer supports only the vehicle cabin but, also is utilized for battery pack cooling which, effects vehicle range and performance. Analyzing, diagnosing, servicing and maintaining powertrain, HVAC, cooling, and regenerative braking systems are key competencies comprehended in the SAE certification. Moreover, these systems affect overall vehicle performance, range and customer satisfaction with all manufacturer products, and the certification engenders a thorough process that will result in the matriculation of those acquiring the certificate.
