California Burning: Southern California and Sierra Nevada Poetry Reading
This very special collaborative poetry reading is being curated by poet/authors Ruth Nolan, Lucille Lang Day and Molly Fisk in response to recent and devastating Southern California/Sierra Nevada major wildfire events of this past summer and past several years in these regions.
Poetry being read is featured in two critically-acclaimed ecopoetry anthologies: Fire and Rain: Ecopoetry of California, edited by Lucille Lang Day and Ruth Nolan, and California Fire & Water: A Climate Crisis Anthology, edited by Molly Fisk.
Following the reading, there will be a discussion of California wildfire ecologies and the impacts of fire and water/flooding fueled in our state by climate change and other factors, and time for community-inclusive and encouraged question, answer, and input from attendees.
This reading is the second of a two part series, with the other sponsored by Poetry Center San Jose on November 10 and featuring work by poets whose works focus on Northern California and Coasts.
This event is co-hosted by Lucille Lang Day, Molly Fisk, and Ruth Nolan, editors of the anthologies California Fire & Water (Fisk) and Fire & Rain: Ecopoetry of California (Day and Nolan), and featuring readings by 20 Southern California contributors.
