Kerala Tuna Cutlets with Pickled Red Onion

Kerala Style Tuna Cutlets are a delicious and easy appetizer. You can easily adjust the spice levels to your preference and most of the prep can be done ahead of time.

Tuna Cutlets
5 cans (5 oz cans) - canned tuna in water
2 - medium sized Russet potatoes cooked and mashed
2 tbsp ginger finely chopped
10 cloves - garlic finely chopped
1 - medium size onion finely chopped (yellow or white onion)

5 - 6 – serrano peppers finely chopped
½ tsp - ground black pepper

½ tsp salt (or more depending on preference)
1 tsp – coriander powder
1 tsp - turmeric powder

½ tsp paprika
¼ tsp - mustard seeds
2 tbsp - oil
5 - 6 - curry leaves finely chopped (optional)

4 tbsp chopped cilantro (optional)
2 - large eggs
2 cups or more – seasoned dry bread crumbs
salt to taste
Vegetable oil to fry

Pickled Red Onion
1 medium sized red onion thinly sliced

4 tbsp fresh lemon juice

2 serrano peppers thinly sliced
